About The Union Review
FIG. — · TITLE LEAF · EDITORIAL MATTER VOL. I · ISSUE 1

I. What we examine

Three standing volumes. Three subjects of examination.

Volume I — Distribution. Papers on streaming services. Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Apple TV+. Platform-by-platform observations, the annual scorecard, the honest comparisons. The Distribution volume.

Volume II — Production. Papers on theatrical cinema. The annual theatrical calendar. The Bollywood surveys. The documentary roundup. The Production volume.

Volume III — Serial Form. Papers on long-form serial work. Web series, K-drama, the long-form work reshaping streaming. The Serial Form volume.

II. Our editorial principles

  1. No sponsored work. Without exception.
  2. No affiliate arrangements. Where we direct readers outward, we direct them to the best source.
  3. Quarterly issue. Maximum ten papers per issue.
  4. Open corrections. Posted at the head of the affected paper, dated.
  5. Human-written, human-edited. Every paper is reviewed by an editor before issue.

III. Who issues this

The Union Review was founded in 2026 as a small editorial collective. The masthead consists of critics, journalists, and editors writing on a freelance basis. Every paper carries an attribution; we do not issue anonymous work.

Issued slowly. Edited at length. Open to all readers. Three sentences. The entirety of the editorial philosophy.

The editor

Prof. Tiana O'Conner serves as founding editor. Based in Wellington. A decade in journalism and entertainment industry reporting. The editor may be addressed via the contact page.

IV. The matter of funding

The Union Review is independently funded. No display advertising is run. No newsletter placements are sold. The publication is supported by its founding editor.

V. The matter of AI tools

We use AI tools — at present, Claude by Anthropic — for research, drafting, and editorial assistance. Every paper is read, fact-checked, edited, and approved by a human editor before issue. We accept full editorial responsibility.

VI. Submissions and corrections

Pitch a paper. Flag a correction. Recommend material for examination. Address all correspondence via contact.
